CHEMICAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR YOUR HOT TUB

At All Valley, we recommend three chemical treatments.  The first is the easiest - it's called "The Frog" system.  The second way is still easy, and it's called an ENZYME treatment.  This is a great system by Waters Choice that is very effective.  The last way to keep your spa clean is through the use of chlorine and a few other chemicals.

We HIGHLY encourage you to read all products and see which treatment is good for you.  We like both The Frog and the Waters Choice ways, but if you're used to a chlorine system and have had no side effects with its use, then go for it!!

HERE ARE THE CHEMICALS TO USE WITH "THE FROG" SYSTEM

  1. Use the pre-treatment filter to fill your spa.  You can use this up to 4 times, so keep it somewhere clean and possibly covered.
  2. Pour Metal Gone into the water to get the water ready to mix nicely with the metal parts inside your spa.
  3. Use "The Frog" floater system 2-part cartridge - it comes in a single box and the bottom part is good for 3 weeks - the top part is good for 4 months.
  4. At the 3 week mark, change out the bottom cartridge with a new one - you can buy a 3-pack of bottom cartridges separately, and when buying a new spa, we give you the additional 3-pack with your start up chemicals!
  5. Use the included test strips to determine if you need to use Leisure Time's SPA UP or SPA DOWN chemicals.
  6. Lastly, every few weeks (3 weeks), when changing the bottom cartridge, you 'shock' your spa with Leisure Time's "Renew", which is a non-chlorine shock.
  7. Optional products are "Bright and Clear" and "Spa Defender" by Leisure Time, but these are optional IF you need them....
  8. THAT'S IT!  This is what is recommended - super simple spa maintenance!!!

HERE ARE THE CHEMICALS TO USE WITH THE ENZYME SYSTEM BY WATERS CHOICE:

  1. Use the pre-treatment filter to fill your spa.  You can use this up to 4 times, so keep it somewhere clean and possibly covered.
  2. Insert the Nature II cartridge in the mouth of your pleated filter system.  Use one of the included tabs so that the motor doesn't 'suck' the cartridge up through the motor. (Change out every 5 to 6 months as needed.)
  3. Pour in the Metal Gone bottle, which treats the metal parts in your spa for corrosion resistance.
  4. Place a single Bromine tab near or in the filter area.  If you have Bromine granules, pour a capful in moving water near the mouth of the filter area. (Do once a week, anytime - this keeps the Nature II cartridge 'activated'.)
  5. Use the test strips and see where your Alkalinity and Ph balance are - use SPA UP and SPA DOWN to adjust to safe levels... then...
  6. Pour a capful of Waters Choice Enzyme in moving water near the mouth area of the filter - do this the first week, then once every two weeks thereafter.
  7. Bright and Clear - use a capful every Tuesday and Thursday (or when needed). (Not on same day as Spa Defender.)
  8. Spa Defender - use a capful every Wednesday and Friday (or when needed). (Not on same day as Bright and Clear.)
  9. Use a non-chlorine shock (Renew by Leisure Time) and use a capful every few weeks - pour into moving water, near the filter area.  You can do it every week or two, but try to see if extending its' use works for you.  Every 3 weeks is what you're trying for.

You’ll always want to clean your filter every two weeks, so first spray on the filter cleaner to loosen up dirt and oils on the filter, then, use the filter brush and your garden hose to clean the filter.  Easy!!  And make it a point to change the filter every year, NO MATTER WHAT!!

HERE ARE THE CHEMICALS TO USE WHEN USING A CHLORINE-BASED SYSTEM BY LEISURE TIME:

  1. Use the pre-treatment filter to fill your spa.  You can use this up to four times, so keep it somewhere clean and possibly covered.
  2. Pour in the Metal gone bottle - this treats the metal parts for corrosion resistance.  (Use each time you fill the spa with new water.)
  3. Place a single capful of Chlorine in the filter area's moving water.  Do TWICE a week.
  4. Use the test strips and see where your Alkalinity and Ph balance are - use SPA UP and SPA DOWN to adjust to safe levels…
  5. Bright and Clear - use a capful every Tue and Thu (or when needed)
  6. Spa Defender - use a capful every Wed and Fri (or when needed)

You’ll always want to clean your filter every two weeks, so first spray on the filter cleaner to loosen up dirt and oils on the filter, then, use the filter brush and your garden hose to clean the filter.  Easy!!  And make it a point to change the filter every year, NO MATTER WHAT!!
